The Source-Connect 3 <> Source-Connect 4 bridge
The Bridge Functionality in Source-Connect 4 allows users on Source-Connect 4 to connect with Source-Connect 3 users, because these versions cannot connect directly because of major differences in the applications' architecture and because Source-Connect 4 sessions are encrypted. The bridge serves as a real-time converter, ensuring that your audio is properly transmitted between users in those cases where you both don't have time to download the latest version.
Keep in mind that the restrictions in the backwards compatibility guide also apply to the bridge - functionalities such as Restore/Replace and RTS are not supported between the 3.X and the 4.X versions.
How to create a new bridge
In order to create a new bridge, go to https://dashboard.source-elements.com/bridge. You will see the following screen:

You will see the following information there:
- [read only] Your Source-Connect username (which will match the name displayed in Source-Connect 4).
- [read only] Your account email, which will be used to manage the bridge. When you create the bridge, you will receive an email on your inbox with a bridge management link.
- Dropdown with your contacts roster, listing every contact you have.
Please note that the bridge is only available for 1-1 calls on Source-Connect - multi-participant conferences must occur with both users on Source-Connect 4. Bridges are stereo by default - contact Support if you need a custom bridge (costs may be involved).
Start your bridge
- Choose the contact you want to connect with from the menu - you can start typing to filter the list.
- Click Start a new bridge
- Add additional time if needed
When you click “Start a new Bridge”, you will see a quick loading message, and the bridge will be promptly created with a set of instructions on how to join it:

Both you and the user on Source-Connect 3 will need to connect to your personal bridge (which will be assigned a name).

You can keep adding 15 minutes at a time to your bridge, as needed, for up to 90 minutes total. The bridge will then be disconnected - if you still need to talk to your user, you will be able to start a new one.
Email management
You will be emailed your Bridge management link, so you can close the Dashboard window or view your Bridge on another browser or computer.
Considerations
- You can connect and reconnect as many times as needed for the duration of your bridge.
- When the bridge expires (after 90 minutes, or for shorter bridges, the amount of time they have), you will not be able to add more minutes. You will, however, have the option to start a new bridge.
- You cannot create more than 10 bridges consecutively. Once you reach your 10th, you will be notified that you will need to wait for the next available slot.
