Using Source-Connect Pro X advanced multi-channel features
In Source-Connect Pro X, you can stream in 5.1 and 7.1 where ch4 has a LFE filter built into it. The LFE filter can not be defeated in Source-Connect Pro.
You do have a few options however:
- Instead of using a channel for LTC, use the built-in RTS feature to achieve sync, thus only requiring 7 full bandwidth channels.
- Run two connection in parallel one using 6ch discrete and the other in stereo.
The issue with this is that the two connections will need to be synchronised.
To sync them, send a “blip” across all the channels of both instances of Source-Connect. Then record and measure the time difference between the blip as it arrived across the 6ch and stereo connection. The side that arrives later is then left alone and the side that arrive earlier is delayed (using most any delay plugin) by the difference in time measured between the two connections. Source-Connect Pro X includes a “fixed latency” buffer option that will lock in this off set in once connected. - Send the click over the LFE and re-trigger the click with a normal sound using the “LFE” click.
We recommend using option 1 as it probably changes the workflow the least because it only is changing LTC for RTS. Other items being synced locally over LTC such as dubbers etc can still use LTC to chase locally. RTS is only needed for the chase across the internet.
