  • Quick Start Guides

When you first open Source-Connect Standard 3.9 after logging in, you will see the following interface by default:

  1. Connection status: the status of your user in Source-Connect.
    1. Available: if there are no connectivity issues and you are not connected to any other user the status should read “Available”.
    2. "Connected to": during a Source-Connect session, the “Connections” text will change to “connected to: <username>”.
    3. Unavailable: if you are having network issues (temporary or not), you will see your connection status change to “unavailable”. Other users will not be able to connect to you at this time.
  2. Connection time: the session duration time.
  3. Connect button: clicking this button will start the Source-Connect session with your connection opponent.
  4. Audio options dropdown: the dropdown contains all audio I/O configurations (quality, channel count, sample rate, buffer size and I/O selection).
  5. Send meter: displays your send level in dB. It will be gray while you're not on a call. If the meter moves into the orange or red areas of the meter during a call, you are likely to experience sound distortions and a lower quality of your signal.
  6. Receive meter: displays your receive level in dB.
  7. Port status: the status of your network ports. Read more about each of the possible port status in this article. If you are looking for instructions on how to map your ports, here is a step-by-step guide.
  8. Contacts panel: the list of contacts you can connect to in Source-Connect along with their status in Source-Connect ("online" when they are available, “busy” if they are on a call, or “offline” when they do not have Source-Connect on).
  9. Messaging panel box: the area where you will see messages sent to you by other Source-Connect users during a call.
  10. Send message input: the area where you can type messages to other Source-Connect users during calls.
  11. Send message button: click this button to sent any messages you have typed in via control (10).
  12. Remote Transport Sync (RTS) menu: the menu where you can access the options which allow for remote ADR, music over dubbing and mix review sessions with picture/timeline lock. Read more about Remote Transport Sync in this article.
  13. Help button: a quick link to the support center.
  14. Manage contacts button: a quick link to your contacts list in the Source Elements dashboard, where you can add, edit or remove any of your contacts.
  15. Q Manager button: clicking this button will open up the companion Q Manager (Standard) menu, the tool you can use to repair and replace any recorded files which contain dropouts due to network loss.
  16. Log out button: clicking this button will log you out of Source-Connect.
