This article is part of the Source-Connect Standard and Pro/Pro X 3.9 User Guides
Supported Host Versions and Hardware
Currently, there is support for macOS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) up to macOS 15.2.
- Source-Connect Standard supports most core-audio drivers as of the writing of this manual except for those noted here: http://source-elements.com/support/issues
- Source-Connect Pro supports most core-audio and ASIO drivers as of the writing of this manual.
Source-Connect requires an audio driver to launch. If your computer does not have one, you can install the free Source-Nexus I/O driver from here.
Versions requiring a physical iLok dongle
There are three versions of Source-Connect Pro/Pro X which require an iLok dongle:
- Source-Connect Pro and Pro X 3.8 (on both Windows and macOS).
- Source-Connect Pro X 3.9.
You can find more information about Source Elements products and iLok requirements in this article.
Minimum Recommended Configurations
Minimum support is available for: 1GHZ G4, 2GB RAM, macOS 10.8 or higher.
We recommend a G5 or higher and 2GB ram or more for best performance.
Supported Sample Rates
- Source-Connect Standard currently only supports 44.1khz and 48khz.
- Source-Connect Pro and Pro X support 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz.
Supported Bit Rates
Source-Connect Standard, Pro and Pro X support 16, 24 and 32-bit sessions.
Compatibility
Source-Connect Standard 3.9 is able to connect with all available versions of Source-Connect, including Pro. See this article for connection limitations when working with Source-Connect Pro. For known hardware issues see http://source-elements.com/support/hardware
Source-Connect 3.9 Pro and Pro X are compatible to connect with all 3.0 versions and up, except for some Remote Transport Sync, Q Manager and codec limitations. Source-Stream requires that both sides of the connection are on Source-Connect 3.9 and have Source-Stream enabled. Contact Support if you have connection questions.
Clock issues with certain digital audio connections
The Mac Pro computers known as ‘Nehalem’ and ‘Westmere’ do not always support correctly locking to an external clock source. This can be problematic when connecting via an optical/digital method to external hardware such as the Digi192. Please contact Support for other options.
