Source Elements plugin bypassed in Pro Tools

A Source Elements plugin is bypassed and cannot be unbypassed in a Pro Tools Native or HDX system.

Description

With the ProTools native system, if you put the system in Low Latency Monitor mode, it bypasses the plugins. In this case, with the HDX playback engine, Native plugins are bypassed by default if the track is record/monitor armed unless you put a simple HDX DSP plugin at the top of the plugin chain such as Trim from the DSP/Other menu when selecting a plugin.

This is an issue for:

• All versions of ProTools 10 and higher
• ProTools HD native system with the overall low latency monitor option
• ProTools HDX systems where there is no bypass of the low latency monitor system
• Classic TDM systems using ProTools HD cards

In order to fix the problem:

Pro Tools Native:

Disable Low Latency Monitoring under the Options menu in Pro Tools.

Pro Tools HDX and Classic TDM Systems:

Insert a simple HDX DSP plugin at the top of the plugin chain, such as Trim, from the DSP/other menu when selecting a plugin.
