How to use Source-Live with the Source-Nexus Gateway
This article is part of the Source-Nexus Gateway User GuideThe Source-Live Gateway is now the Source-Nexus Gateway. This means you have full access to the Source-Nexus Gateway as well as the familiar features of the Source-Live Low latency video broadcast viewer and application.
What does this mean for me?
- You will still use the Source-Live broadcast desktop application to send your video and audio streams to the client viewer.
- The first time you use the Source-Nexus Gateway, you will be asked to set a passkey. However, it will be overwritten by the Source-Live desktop application the next time you start broadcasting.
- You can use the Source-Nexus Gateway high-quality screen-sharing feature.
- You can use the Source-Nexus Gateway high-quality audio broadcast feature.
What does this mean for my clients?
- Your clients will go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/<username> to listen to your broadcast.
- Your clients will receive the HD audio stream should you choose to use this separate feature.
Using the Source-Nexus Gateway with Source-Live as a Host
In order to start a new streaming session:
- Open the Source-Live application on your Mac or your Windows computer.
- On Source-Live, select a Source for your stream (image only, input devices, windows, screens or NDI sources).
- Make sure you adjust your audio settings in the SETTINGS panel.
- Test out your stream before sending out your broadcast link to your clients. You can do this by following the steps below:
- Go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/<username> web browser tab.
- Enter your username and click “Join Session”.
- Select your I/O and camera and click “Start Broadcast” when you are ready.
- Verify your audio and/or video are coming in as expected.
If you wish to update your passkey before or during your broadcast, you can click the Settings/gears icon next to “Leave Video Chat” and click “Change Passkey”. However, please note that any users who have already joined will be asked to sign in again.
Testing your Source-Live broadcast in the Source-Nexus Gateway
To test out your Source-Live stream as if you were one of your guests, you will need to:
- Open up a new, separate browser instance - you can also try an incognito session. Since you will be verifying your session as a guest, you will not be restricted.
- Go to https://nexus.source-elements.com/<username>
- In “Join Session as a guest”, click “Join Session”.
- Enter your session passkey and click “Join”.
- Select your I/O and camera and join the session.
Keep in mind that joining your own stream as a guest will consume Source-Live viewer hours. Verify what you need, but remember to close the browser instance after doing so.
