Getting Started with Source-Nexus I/O
This article is a quick guide, which does not include working with any of the other Source Elements products. If you are looking for those instructions, check out the Source-Nexus I/O user guide, which includes a few sample scenarios.
You can use any DAW of your choice which run plug-ins in real-time and can receive audio from a remote party and record them. This quick guide will use Pro Tools as a reference.

- If you haven’t already, make sure to request a Source-Nexus I/O full-featured trial the first time you drop the plugin on your DAW. You will be asked to create a new Source Elements account if you do not have one.
- Log into your account here and download Source-Nexus I/O.
- Launch your DAW of choice.

One of the most common scenarios for Source-Nexus I/O is to use it with other conferencing applications such as Source-Connect. There is no one way to route Source-Connect, however, the best way is what works for you and what you understand. The following is a simple setup that will help get you started:
- Open up Pro Tools and create the following buses (by going to Setup > I/O > Bus):
- A mono “ToSC” bus.
- A mono “FromSC” bus.
- Create the following three tracks:
- A mono track called “Talkback”.
- Set the input of the talkback track to your microphone.
- In the “SENDS” section, select “bus” > “ToSC”. Make sure to turn on the volume for the bus.
- Turn on Track Record Enable.
- Turn on Input Monitoring.
- A mono track called “Source-Connect”.
- Set the input of the track to “FromSC”.
- An aux track.
- In the INSERTS section, go to plugin > other and add a "Source-Nexus I/O (mono)" instance.
- Set the input of the track to “ToSC”.
- Set the output of the track to “FromSC”.
- A mono track called “Talkback”.
Immediately after step (c), you should see signal going in the SEND volume meter of Source-Nexus I/O:
You can then select “Source-Nexus A” and “Source-Nexus B” as your I/O respectively on Source-Connect in order to work with your DAW.
