Recommended Defaults
Setting a bitrate of at least 128kbps mono / 256kbps stereo is the ideal setting for most voice situations as it requires the least resources, consumes less bandwidth and provides excellent audio quality. Lower bitrates provide easier transmission in less-than-ideal network situations. When sending many channels, lower bitrates will greatly reduce the chance of bad audio quality.
In Source-Connect Talent, you can set the bitrate by modifying the “Quality” option in the general settings menu. By default, it will be set to “High” (Ideal). The options in the dropdown correspond to the following values:
- Low - 48kbps mono / 64kbps stereo
- Medium - 64kbps mono / 128kbps stereo
- High - 96kbps mono / 192kbps stereo
- Best - 160kbps mono / 320kbps stereo
We recommend understanding your network resources as much as possible, as this allows you to achieve optimal results. Please refer to the following section for the minimum Source-Connect network requirements.
