Source-Connect and Windows FAQ
This article contains a list of FAQ regarding Source-Connect and Windows
Can I run Source-Connect on Windows?
Yes, Source-Connect 3.8.1 is perfectly compatible with all Microsoft-supported versions of Windows (Windows 8.1 or higher).
What are the biggest challenges with Windows and Source-Connect?
Most Windows issues stems from your audio hardware not wanting to share itself between 2 applications. This is a core problem with ASIO support on Windows that cannot be addressed by us so we can only recommend workarounds.
If you find that you cannot use both Source-Connect and your recording software at the same time, this limits your ability to make a "backup" recording, or otherwise use your usual DAW at the same time. Source-Connect 3.8 includes a VST and AAX plug-in to help with this, with known supported applications listed here. Please read below for current issues and suggestions.
When will you fully support Pro Tools 11/12 and Nuendo/Cubase 64-bit?
We are working on full 64-bit support (RTS, Q Manager) for Pro Tools 11/12 and other 64-bit applications.
In the meantime you can use the ReWire 64-32bit Bridge to enable RTS in 64bit DAWs (such as newer versions of Pro Tools) running on Windows. You can find our guide here.
I do voiceovers and want to be able to record a backup while I am using Source-Connect, but my recording software and Source-Connect cannot use my hardware at the same time. What I can I do?
We have a couple of excellent tutorials available, going over the best practice for running Source-Connect in Windows.
