"Connected via server" message in Source-Nexus Gateway

Connected via server. Quality may be reduced

Source-Nexus Gateway | All Operating Systems 

Description

When users start a new Source-Nexus Gateway session, or when they connect to an existing one, they receive an error message saying they have been connected via server.

Cause

The connection is being relayed through a server instead of through a peer-to-peer connection - this is a fallback method to still allow you to use the Source-Nexus Gateway.

Actions

The best way to avoid this message is to use less strict firewall rules. If you still need to have one, please contact our support team and request the whitelisting document for Source-Nexus.

In addition, please keep in mind that since Source-Nexus Gateway connects peer-to-peer, for every participant int he session, it will increase the amount of bandwidth used on all sides. Therefore, if one or more participants have a weaker internet connection, it could affect the stability on all sides.
